Last week, from November 17 to November 19, 2016, WAVE Country Team Leaders met at WAVE headquarters at Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Bingerville, Côte d’Ivoire for their second meeting.
All program researchers participated in this meeting. Dr Justin PITA (PI), Dr KOUASSI Nazaire (Technical Expert) and Pr SORHO Fatogoma (Lab Manager), from Côte d’Ivoire, Pr Corneille AHANHANZO (Country Team Leader) from Benin, Pr ADJATA Djodji (CTL), from TOGO, Dr Joseph ONYEKA (Zone Team Leader), Dr Angela ENI (ZTL) and Dr Ibrahim MOHAMMED (ZTL) from Nigeria, Dr Fidèle TIENDREBEOGO (CTL) from Burkina Faso, Allen OPPONG (CTL) from Ghana, Zeyimo BAKELANA (ZTL) and Pr MONDE Godefroid (ZTL) from RDC.
Several topics were on the agenda, including setting milestones, timeline and defining WAVE’s operating rules.
This meeting was also an opportunity for WAVE researchers to strengthen their knowlegde of the field’s survey application with Richard Stutt and David Godding from Cambridge University by skype meeting, followed by discussions.
All these exchanges have been very constructive for the evolution of the program and food security in Africa.
The second WAVE Team Leaders’ meeting was punctuated by a surprise visit of Professor
Brice SINSSIN, Rector of Université d’Abomey Calavi, who expressed his encouragement to the researchers to whom he made certain recommendations for a positive impact of WAVE’s actions in Africa. Professor SINSSIN visited WAVE infrastructures including its molecular biology and tissue culture laboratories as well as Offices and auditorium. During his visit, he met with, WAVE MSC. And PHD. students, who took pleasure in exchanging with this top African academic, also godfather of WAVE.
