Prof. Corneille Ahanhanzo is the WAVE Benin Country Director. He is an agronomist and a Professor of Plant Biotechnology and Plant Genetic Breeding at the University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin). .… n addition to his responsibilities as WAVE Benin Country Director, Prof. Ahanhanzo studied at the Faculty of Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture of Kuban State Agrarian University (Krasnodar-RUSSIA) where he obtained his Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology and Plant Genetic Breeding in 1999. With over 20 years experiences in conducting research on Plant Genetic Breeding, he is the author/co-author of nearly 60 scientific articles and supervised successfully more than 15 Ph.D. and 50 bachelors and master’s degree students. In addition to his responsibilities as WAVE Benin Country, Prof Ahanhanzo is a biosafety consultant at the Ministry of Living Environment and Sustainable Development. He also serves as the Head of the vitroplant project of the Benin Centre for Scientific Research and Innovation (CBRTI). In 2015, he was awarded knight of the National Order of Benin. At a regional level, Prof Ahanhanzo is acknowledged as an UEMOA and ECOWAS expert in plant biosafety and biotechnology.
