Dr. Angela Eni is the WAVE Nigeria South West Country Director. She is a plant virologist and an Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, Covenant University Nigeria. Her current research focuses on understanding the epidemiology of viral diseases of African root and tuber crops, developing sensitive diagnostics useful for mitigating the devastating effects of these diseases, as well as synergizing with farmers and relevant stakeholders to improve crop productivity. …Prior to joining Covenant University in 2009, Angela spent 10 years at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Nigeria and was the interim Head of the Virology and Molecular Diagnostics Unit of IITA from March 2005 and July 2007, contributing to poverty alleviation efforts targeted at resource poor, smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Angela Eni was named one of the 2015 Laureates of the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) and has since become a strong advocate for women in science.
