INERA/ Burkina Faso
Dr. Fidèle TIENDREBEOGO is the WAVE Burkina Faso Country Director. He is a plant virologist at Institut de l’Environnement et de Recherches Agricoles (INERA), the Environment and Agricultural Research Institute of the National Center for Scientific and Technological Research (CNRST) in charge of Burkina Faso’s agriculture development.…Graduated in 2010 from Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo (UJKZ), Dr. Fidèle TIENDREBEOGO worked during his Ph.D. on the characterization and the epidemiological aspects of begomoviruses infecting major crops including cassava in Burkina Faso. He contributed particularly to the molecular characterization of African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV) and East African cassava mosaic virus, Uganda variant (EACMV-UG) in Burkina Faso. At INERA, Dr. Tiendrébéogo conducts research on the diagnosis and characterization of begomoviruses and sweet potato viruses in Burkina. He is also teaching molecular biology, genomics and bioinformatics to master’s degree students at UJKZ. He works on the development of UJKZ’s bioinformatics platform and trains several master and PhD students. From 2012 to 2016, Dr. Tiendrébéogo coordinated the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa, Burkina Faso chapter. Since 2016, he is acknowledged by the Conseil Africain et Malgache pour l’Enseignement Supérieur (CAMES) as an associate Professor.
